JotSpan vs Notion

Notion is a flexible workspace you shape into whatever you need. JotSpan does one thing, a to-do list with a work journal built in, and needs no setup to do it.

When Notion is the better choice

If you want one place for documents, wikis, databases and team projects, Notion is built for that, and JotSpan isn’t. It’s also the better fit when you share work with other people or want to design your own system down to each property.

When JotSpan is the better choice

If what you need is to know what you’re working on, switch without losing your place and see how the day actually went, JotSpan does it out of the box. There are no databases to design and no statuses to keep current: starting a task pauses the last one, and your reflections stay in order between them.

Many people build this in Notion and stop maintaining it after a few weeks. JotSpan has nothing to maintain.

Using both

They work well side by side: keep plans and documents in Notion, and use JotSpan for the day itself.

Questions.

Can I import my Notion tasks?

Not directly. Tasks are quick to add: type each one into Later and press Enter.

Can I get my JotSpan data out?

Yes. Export everything as JSON from Settings.

Does JotSpan have AI features?

No. JotSpan is manual-first: you write your own reflections, and nothing needs AI to work.

Start with the task on your mind.

Type it, press Enter, and you’re working. Write a reflection before you switch.
