Interstitial journaling with JotSpan
Interstitial journaling, without the bookkeeping.
Interstitial journaling means writing a short reflection each time you move from one task to the next. JotSpan stamps the time and logs the switch, so all you write is the reflection.

What interstitial journaling is
Instead of one long entry at the end of the day, you write a line or two in the gaps between tasks: what you just finished, how it went and what you’re doing next. The habit makes switches deliberate and leaves a clear record of the day.
The usual tools are a notebook or a notes file with a timestamp typed on every line. It works, but the bookkeeping is the part people skip.
What JotSpan does for you
Start a task and JotSpan records the time. Start another and it pauses the first, also with the time. Your reflections land between them, in the order you wrote them.
The Journal shows every day this way, oldest at the top and today at the bottom, and Search finds any line by a word you remember.
Your journal stays yours

Questions.
Do I have to track tasks to use it?
No. You can write reflections only. Tasks add the start and pause times around them when you want that context.
Can I hide my reflections and only see my work?
Yes. A view setting hides reflections in the Journal. Days with only reflections keep their heading and a count.
Can I edit a reflection later?
Yes. Click or tap a reflection to edit it in place. Edits keep the reflection’s original time.
Is it free?
Yes. Tasks, reflections, search and export are all free with an account.
Start with the task on your mind.
Type it, press Enter, and you’re working. Write a reflection before you switch.
