JotSpan for students
Keep every assignment in one list, and your place in each.
Add your assignments, start one, and write a reflection before you stop. Next session, you know exactly where you were, even if it was a week ago.
- Problem set 3
- The example makes sense now. Try solving it again without looking.
- Read chapter 6 for seminar
One list for everything due
Write each assignment into Later as it comes up. When you sit down to study, start one. It moves to Open, and JotSpan records the time.
Switching to another subject pauses the first. Paused work stays in Open with a Continue button, so you can see what you started and haven’t finished.
Write a reflection before you stop
The hardest part of studying is often starting again. A one-line reflection like “stuck on question 4, check the lecture slides” turns a cold start into a quick one.
Search finds any reflection by a word you remember and opens it in its place in your Journal, with the days around it.
See what you actually did
Your Journal shows each day’s work and reflections in order. It’s an honest answer to “what did I do this week?” without logging hours or filling in a planner.
Questions.
Can I use JotSpan on my phone and laptop?
Yes. It works in any modern browser. With a free account, the same journal is on every device. iOS and Android apps are coming soon.
Does it have a Pomodoro timer?
No. JotSpan records when you start, pause and finish tasks, but there are no timers to run. It works alongside any timer you already use.
Can I share it with a study group?
No. JotSpan is a personal journal, with no shared workspaces.
Is it free for students?
It’s free for everyone. Tasks, reflections, search and a full export of your data will stay free.
