Terms of Service

Using JotSpan

You must be at least 16 to use JotSpan, and you need an account to use the app. Your entries are saved to your account and available wherever you sign in.

Your account

Use an email address you control and keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens in your account. If you think someone else has access to it, change your password and end their sessions in Settings, and let us know.

Your content

What you write in JotSpan is yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and show it to you only as needed to run JotSpan for you, including keeping backups. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backup copies that expire as the Privacy Policy describes.

Fair use

Please don’t:

  • break the law with JotSpan, or use it to store content that is illegal to hold;
  • try to get into other people’s accounts or data, or probe, scan or test JotSpan’s security without our permission;
  • overload JotSpan, or access it with bots or scrapers, apart from exporting your own data;
  • copy, resell or offer JotSpan as a service of your own.

Price

JotSpan is free today. We plan to add a paid plan; tasks, reflections, search and a full export of your data will stay free. We’ll never charge you without your explicit agreement, and any paid plan will come with its own terms.

Changes and availability

We keep improving JotSpan, so features may change. We try to keep it running and your data safe, but we can’t promise that it will always be available or free of errors. If you have an account, export your data from Settings from time to time if it matters to you.

Leaving, suspension and shutdown

You can stop using JotSpan at any time: export your data and delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts JotSpan or other people at risk, and we’ll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it. If we ever shut JotSpan down, we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice where we can, so you can export your data.

No warranty

JotSpan is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promises about it beyond those in these terms.

Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for JotSpan in the 12 months before the claim.

These limits don’t apply to harm we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, to death or personal injury, or to any other liability the law doesn’t allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer law where you live.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we’ll tell account holders by email or in JotSpan before it takes effect, and announce it on jotspan.com. If you don’t agree with new terms, you can export your data and delete your account before they apply; continuing to use JotSpan after that means you accept them.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Armenia, and disputes go to its courts, unless the law where you live gives you the right to have them heard there.
