JotSpan for freelancers

Move between clients without losing the thread.

Start a task for one client, switch to another when they call, and come back to a reflection that says what’s next. Your Journal shows what you worked on and when.

  • Acme: homepage copy
  • Brightline: intro call
  • Call done. They want the shorter intro. Send v2 by Friday.

Switch clients with one action

Start the next client’s task and the current one pauses. You never have two things running, and you never have to remember to stop anything.

A client name at the start of each task, like “Acme: homepage copy”, keeps your Journal easy to scan without projects or tags.

Reflections where you’ll find them

After a call, write what they asked for. The reflection sits on your timeline between the work before and after it, and Search finds it later by any word in it.

A record of your week

Look back at any day to see what you worked on, in order, with your reflections. Export everything as JSON whenever you want your own copy.

JotSpan isn’t a time tracker: there are no timesheets or invoices. It’s the journal behind the work.

Questions.

Can JotSpan replace my time tracker?

Not for billing. JotSpan records when you start, pause and finish tasks so you can see how a day went, but it doesn’t total hours or make timesheets.

Can I organize tasks by client?

There are no projects or tags. Most people put the client’s name at the start of the task, which Search and your Journal handle well.

Can I share my log with a client?

There’s no sharing. Your Journal is private to your account, and you can export everything as JSON from Settings.

Is my client information private?

Your journal is private to your account, with no ads or analytics trackers. The Privacy Policy has the details.

Start with the task on your mind.

Type it, press Enter, and you’re working. Write a reflection before you switch.
