When Toggl Track is the better choice
If you bill by the hour, send timesheets, or need totals by project and client, use a time tracker. Toggl Track is designed for that, and JotSpan deliberately has no timers or reports.
When JotSpan is the better choice
If you don’t need hours but do need to remember what happened, JotSpan fits better. It keeps a to-do list, one active task and your reflections on one timeline, so coming back to paused work means reading one line, not reconstructing it from a report.
Using both
Some freelancers track billable time in Toggl Track and write reflections in JotSpan on where each piece of work stands. They answer different questions: how long, and what’s next.
Questions.
Can JotSpan total my hours?
No. It shows when you started, paused and finished tasks, but it doesn’t add up time or make timesheets.
Will JotSpan remind me to start a timer?
No. There are no timers and no notifications. Starting a task is the only step.
Is it free?
Yes. Tasks, reflections, search and export are all free with an account.
Start with the task on your mind.
Type it, press Enter, and you’re working. Write a reflection before you switch.
