A work log with JotSpan

A work log that fills in as you work.

A work log, or done list, is a record of what you actually did. With JotSpan you don’t write it afterwards: starting, pausing and finishing tasks fills it in, and you add a reflection when there’s something worth remembering.

Why keep a work log

A log turns a vague “busy week” into a list you can point to: in a standup, a one-on-one, a performance review or an update for a client. It also helps you see where a day actually went.

The hard part is keeping it up. Logs written from memory at the end of the week miss most of what happened.

What JotSpan records for you

Every start, pause and completion is recorded with its time. Switching tasks pauses the last one automatically, so the log stays accurate even on messy days. Your reflections sit between those entries, in the order you wrote them.

Getting it out

Export everything as JSON from Settings whenever you like. Search finds any task or reflection by a word you remember.

Questions.

Is this a timesheet?

No. JotSpan shows when you started, paused and finished tasks, but it doesn’t total hours or produce timesheets.

Can I add something I did earlier?

Entries are recorded when you make them. Add a reflection describing what you did earlier, and it appears at the time you write it.

Can I share my log?

There’s no sharing. Your Journal is private to your account, and you can export everything as JSON from Settings.

Is it free?

Yes. Tasks, reflections, search and export are all free with an account.

Start with the task on your mind.

Type it, press Enter, and you’re working. Write a reflection before you switch.
